It's Here - orders yours today-Promotional price want last long!!Riviera Metal Lawn Chairs by Torrans Manufacturing Co., LLC., Assembled in the USA - Actually right here in East Texas!!Out of production for over 70 years, Riviera represents the latest reintroduction of a truly vintage metal lawn chair to the long line of period correct retro metal furniture produced by Torrans Manufacturing Company, LLC. First designed about 1941 by one of the most famous and prolific industrial designers of the Art Deco era, Viktor Schreckengost. Mr. Schreckengost enticed workers with a cup of coffee outside of a manufacturing plant to sit in a bed of modeling clay. At the end of the day, the pattern for the seat was complete with a representational average of over 450 people’s posterior. Production began just prior to WW II but soon ended. Having been sold exclusively through selected Sears, Roebuck and Company stores, vintage examples are now very difficult to locate. Riviera correctly reproduces the host of Art Deco design elements found in the original Schreckengost design which is without question one of the most richly decorated and beautiful stamped metal lawn chairs ever made. The chair was originally dubbed “Beverly Hills” lawn chair and in keeping with the tradition of naming our furniture after a combination of vintage cars, tourist courts and motels along historic Route 66; we have christened it the name “Riviera”. To celebrate and honor this unique chair and its designer, we are manufacturing it not only in the USA but also here in Texas. At this time, only some of the parts are of foreign origin but our plans are to return to 100% domestic production in the very near future! Currently available in chairs only, gliders and settees are planned for release.
